Back to school...

hello everybody.....whoever's thr... :P

...like i promised last time i finally managed to come back to the blogosphere. actually i did think of making this trip quite some time back but like i said the last time round procrastination often gets the better of me and so it did :P..

..anyway for starters lets update this blog with some of the developments in mah life...well i quit my job...& before anyone starts getting any dramatic or heroic ideas i would like to clarify i quit my job to pursue an mba....not a very useful course and in the same breathe a very very useful degree as the employers out there attach a lot of value to this attribute...nway so i have landed in mba college...i for one took the addage "once an iit-ian, always an iit-ian" a bit too seriously and here i am at school of management, iit bombay...

..the best thing about being here is that i got to go back to a iit and the life of peasssshhh that i had foresaken 2 years back (i agree mba is not that peassshhhful but i think at iit it is a bit more peaceful than at other colleges) and the other good thing is that i got to stay back in good old mumbai that means i had a lot fewer headaches while shifting from professional to college life...

coming back to the iit system after two years the full ramifications of the games the honchos at delhi have been playing with one of the most successful education systems in the country hit me like never before....i am not at all against establishing new iit s in other parts of the country but to set up any new college or expand existing ones any rational being would build first and then make it functional...but apparently indian leaders have a lot more sense other than common sense and they tried to have it the other way round...the results being that a lot of students have to share cramped quarters and other infrastructure meant for a lot less number of folks.....its a pity that a lot of the current students wont know how the iits used to be just some 5 years back...

..coming back to school is a great feeling..out here its a much more peaceful world...far far away from the real world of the past 2 years...shouting with the contractors,reasoning with the employees and the boss,the daily tests of patience while attending the afternoon communication meetings with boss..etc etc :P..actually i didnt feel that i had been away from this world for 2 years, getting back to student mode was easy but the difficult thing is to remind myself repeatedly that theres no paycheck waiting in the bank for me at the end of the month :P...

..well i am back to college and i am back to sports...the old bones are getting their fair share of exercise once more...tt, football & ..............pool...yessssir for the last few weeks i have been learning this game, though i am still pretty lousy at it but i enjoy playin it.. :)

..nway thats more or less how my lifes shaping up at the momment....and if any ones's wondering how i am getting the time to write such loooong blogs, fyi iit bombay has been closed down for the weekend because of the swines with the flu...though its a welcome holiday theres not really much to do as people including me are averse to a lot of travelling with the pigs flying about in the air...however i wonder what good a 7 day suspension of schools and colleges is going to do as people are going to work all the same and are quite capable of bringing the virus to their children at the dinner table, maybe closing down all offices and work for a week would be a better solution but the costs are too much...interestingly though some people have been trying to say that this is almost like normal influenza and is not worth all this panic, i just checked wiki for the historical facts and found that some different strains of flus do have the capacity to wipe out populations...the spanish flu of 1918 wiped out 10% of india and 90% of some polynesian island...anyway i feel the panic is serving its purpose that people have become a lot more conscious and are taking precautions...

...nway yesterday i sent across a message to my green friends in the nearest earth like planet in the libra constellation!!!(http://www.hellofromearth.net/)...it is a very silly thing but since i had the time i filled it up...but i kinda liked the idea that the message will take 20 years to reach the destination and another 20 to come back if there is some reflection....where will we all be in 40 years?? :P who knows...but the message will still be there travelling at the speed of light through the universe....kind of gives me a different feeling...

...thats it folks, i managed to write my second looong blog and like the last time time i promise to be back, an empty mind is the devils workshop;the result is this blog but sometimes even the devil does surrender to a greater force..hunger... :P and i am off for lunch now..
